In this guide, you will find the tips and strategies you need in order to get to the top of your game. We will be adding more tips to this list frequently, so be sure to check back regularly for updates!

Tip #1 – Level up faster with crafting.

It does not take long to realize that regular quests and class quests are not enough to level up in Guild Wars 2. While you can use dynamic world events, PvP, or even grinding to fill the gaps between levels, this is very slow.

Fortunately, there is another option that many players overlook: crafting. Crafting items in Guild Wars 2 actually yields profession (class) experience in addition to craft experience. The amount of experience provided from chain crafting is much higher than repeating dynamic events or PvP, making crafting the fastest way to level up.

Tip #2 – Always open junk bags before selling them.

Junk bags and boxes are the bags you routinely find off of slain enemies, particularly humanoids. These items tend to have crafting materials inside them. A big mistake players make is that they open up the trading post and see that players are offering to buy junk bags and then sell those bags via the auto-match feature.

The problem is that players who buy junk bags are offering prices way lower than the crafting materials contained inside the bag. These players then open the bags and resell the materials inside for a profit. As a result, you always want to open your bags and sell the contents rather than selling the bags.

On the flip-side, you can try to make some money by buying the bags, opening them, and then selling the contents.

Tip #3 – Be sure to sell your crafting materials on the Trading Post.

Since we know that crafting provides experience points, craft materials will retain their value in spite of a declining need in crafted goods as well as an inevitable overproduction of leveling items. As a result, you will want to sell the crafting materials you do not use on the trading post rather than to a vendor.

Tip #4 – Save your unneeded skill points.

In Guild Wars 2, you can use your skill points to unlock new abilities to use in the 6-10 slots on your action bar. You earn these points by getting experience points, completing challenges, or other various quests throughout the game.

Most players spend their skill points as soon as they get them in order to unlock all their skills. This is a waste; you should only use your skill points on skills you really want.

The reason for this is because you need 200 skill points in order to get a Bloodstone Shard. The Bloodstone Shard is purchased from a vendor at the cost of 200 skill points and is needed to get a legendary weapon. Your legendary weapon is the best weapon you can get and 200 skill points can take a very long time to get, so you should start saving early!

Tip #5 – Gather top-tier materials for profit.

In GW2, gathering is not a learned craft with a skill level. Instead, anyone with a tool equipped can start harvesting. At level 70, you are a high enough level to gather Orichalcum Ore. This ore is particularly valuable because it is used in large quantities in making legendary weapons.

Most legendary weapons require 250 ore and some even require 500! This is a large amount of ore and everyone will want at least 1 legendary weapon, so as you can imagine Orichalcum Ore will be quite expensive for some time. Be sure to mine it when you see it so you can sell it when prices rise when everyone starts getting together materials for their legendary weapon.

Guild Wars 2 Ranger Stats Guide

The Player is going to meet hundreds of enemy NPCs (Non Playable Characters) throughout the course of Guild Wars 2, and will even come up against other Players in Player Versus Player and World Versus World modes, all of which will be doing everything in their power to stop the Player.

As such, how proficient a Character is In fighting and dealing with these encounters is an integral part of the game, and this is controlled by a set of factors known as Attributes, which govern everything from a Character’s Health, to their outgoing damage, to how powerful their Healing spells are. This makes Attributes a key part of any Character, and vital to their progression. There are three types of Attributes; Primary Attributes, Secondary Attributes and Profession Specific, or Tertiary, Attributes. Continue reading

Guild Wars 2 Guardian Attributes Guide

Combat is a major part of Guild Wars 2, as is the case with any role playing game, and as such a Character’s proficiency in combat dictates an awfully large aspect of the game, and this is controlled by a set of factors known as Attributes.

These control things such as the amount of damage the Character can withstand before dying, or the amount of damage that the Character’s outgoing attacks do, and can also affect specific parts of combat and pander to certain tactics. Due to the fact that Attributes affect a Character so much, it would be a good idea for any Player, particularly if they are new, to look over the different Attributes and assess their merits before making any sort of choice. Guild Wars 2 Necromancer Stats Guide

Each Character has different stats that affect how powerful they are and how well they fare in certain aspects of combat, and this is all determined by something known as Attributes. Attributes can be thought of as areas of expertise that a Player puts points into as they level up. There are three types of Attribute; Primary Attributes, Secondary Attributes and Profession Specific Attributes.

Primary Attributes are basic, and they increase automatically as the Player’s Character levels up. Secondary Attributes are tailored to specific types of Combat, and as such are manually updated, as are Profession Specific Attributes. This is done by assigning points to Trait Trees, which each have relevant Attributes attached to them that increase as the Trait Tree improves. Although this is the main method in which to alter one’s Attributes, they can also be affected by the use of certain pieces of Equipment and, in Player versus Player, through the use of certain Consumables. Because they impact so much on a Character, it is wise to familiarize yourself with the different Attributes and how they apply to different Professions, as in this case, the Necromancer. Guild Wars 2 Warrior Stats Guide

Combat forms a major part of the gameplay of Guild Wars 2, and there are many factors that affect your character’s abilities in combat, such as Equipment, Boons and Conditions. The most constant factors in a Character’s battling abilities are their Attributes. Attributes are stats that form the base for a Character’s combat prowess, and come in three types: Primary Attributes, Secondary Attributes and Profession Specific Attributes.

Primary Attributes are the most basic, and affect all types of combat. These upgrade automatically as a character progresses through levels. Secondary Attributes are less general, and hone in on different styles of fighting, and have to be upgraded manually. Finally, Profession Specific Attributes are designed to fit each Profession and aid their unique abilities. There are 4 Primary Attributes, 5 Secondary Attributes and 1 Profession Attribute for each Profession. Continue reading

Guild Wars 2 Thief Guide

In Guild Wars 2, Thieves are the masters of stealth and surprise. They share ideas of deception and trickery with the Mesmer class, but as they are an Adventurer Profession, whereas the Mesmer is a Scholar, they are more adept at fighting and are less likely to pack tricks to get out of a fight, and more likely to have things up their sleeve to tilt the battle in their favor. They go unnoticed as much as possible, and hope to either dispatch or severely damage their foes before they have any idea as to what has happened.

In keeping with the thieving idea, a Thief’s main unique ability is the fact that they can Steal equipment from others. The Thief will “shadow step” to their target, essentially teleporting them instantly within range, and will then pick pocket something from their unfortunate foe. The stolen item will then occupy the slot where the Steal Skill initially was. Continue reading

Guild Wars 2 Necromancer Guide

Necromancy in Guild Wars 2 are masters of dark magic and the patriarchs of the arcane arts. Literally meaning the divination of death, necromancy is an ancient practice that strives to connect our world to the next life, often with horrifying and evil results, and Necromancers in Guild Wars 2 are no different, offering a darker alternative to the Elementalist for prospective Players that are interested in a magic oriented Profession.

They can cobble together horrifying demons from the remains of the dead to fight for them, and can sacrifice their own health and well being to damage others, reflecting their ruthless, “win at any cost” nature. Continue reading

Guild Wars 2 Guardian Guide

Guardians are peaceful soldiers that, as their name indicates, specialize in protecting others. They have a strong sense of loyalty and duty to their allies, and this is what fuels their strength and passion. They have an arsenal of Healing Skills, Regeneration Skills and unique Virtues to insure that anyone on their side is always protected and kept supported.

As such, they are an excellent support class, and can be a key component in banding a party of Players together and keeping them going. They are the closest thing to a dedicated Healer Profession, such as was the Monk in the first Guild Wars game, that exists in Guild Wars 2. Guardians do everything in their power to aid and protect those around them, and act as a kinder, more moral counterpart to the fire-hearted Warrior, which is the other Soldier Profession. Guild Wars 2 Mesmer Guide

The Mesmer is a tricky Profession, dabbling in illusion and deception. Often referred to as the “maestros of mirage,” they focus on confusing, controlling or outright tricking their foes into doing their bidding, be it causing them to fight amongst themselves by instilling then with insatiable rage, or filling their hearts with fear and cowardice so that they flee, Mesmers do what they can to outsmart and outwit their enemies. Rangers are a cool, calculated class of Adventurers with a keen eye, a steady hand and an intimate understanding of the natural world, as well as various ways to use it to their advantage against their foes. They are typically skilled in ranged weapons, with a particular affinity for bows and arrows, though they are serviceable in melee ranged combat as well, wielding Swords and Axes alike. They can command the beasts of the wild to do their bidding, and often use this to their advantage in overcoming their foes through their connection with the natural world and all of the creatures that inhabit it. Guild Wars 2 Engineer Stats Guide

Attributes are characteristics that dictate a Character’s effectiveness in combat, and there are three types; Primary Attributes, Secondary Attributes and Profession Attributes. The Primary Attributes increase automatically whenever you level up, but Secondary Attributes as well as Profession Attributes need to be upgraded manually. Therefore, where you choose to put your upgrades affects your proficiency in different types of combat. There are 4 Primary Attributes, 5 Secondary Attributes and 1 Profession Attributes for each Profession. Profession Attributes, naturally, are exclusive.

Each Profession has different priorities in terms of combat, for example some prefer ranged combat to melee, and others focus heavily on inflicting Conditions, and as such it is important to know which Attributes to spend your points in, in particular in relation to the Secondary Attributes.
